The April 19, 2008 shall come into force in Spain, the new Regulation on Protection of Personal Data. As of this date and automated files exist before the entry into force of this Royal Decree, the implementation of additional measures not covered in previous legislation, must be implemented within one year after the entry into force of the new. This period is extended to certain records up to eighteen months. For non-automated files existing on the date of entry into force, establishing deadlines a year, eighteen months and two years from the date of entry into force of new regulations for the implementation of security measures levels basic, medium and high, respectively.
